Primary Accountability: The crew member will typically perform a variety of tasks, which include sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and raking.
Expectations/Responsibilities:
- Care for lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing, and removing thatch, and trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls.
- Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
- Mow and edge lawns, using power mowers and edgers.
- Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools.
- Follow planned landscaping designs as directed by the Crew Leader and the General Manager.
- Gather and remove litter.
- Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chainsaws.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in commercial landscaping required
- Ability to handle the physicality of our work: weather conditions, heavy lifting, and extensive walking.
- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus, but not required.
- Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment testing, including a drug screen, physical, and breath alcohol test. A background check will be conducted.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while operating a motor vehicle
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Ability to work in severe weather conditions, both hot and cold. Work and travel in inclement weather
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor 50-70% of the time
- Able to tolerate exposure to moderate noise levels
